How do anti-war activists assess this experience? The war was portrayed as a defence of a revolutionary movement. And in fact, in the context of the magnificent Arab Spring of early 2011, a mass uprising had taken place against the Libyan regime. But given the bitter experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan, is it credible that NATO war planes could be used as an instrument of democracy?

On Tuesday the Occupy Toronto camp was served with an eviction notice. Trade unions and social justice groups along with hundreds of individuals expressed their outrage and willingness to mobilize to defend the movement. A rally to defend the park was scheduled for 11pm (the eviction was scheduled for midnight). A lawyer working for the Occupy movement managed to get an injunction to delay the eviction until the weekend. A powerful show of solidarity was made by the hundreds of people that showed up to defend the camp.

Striking workers at Ming Pao newspaper have been walking the picket line since September for a first contract. They are fighting for a living wage and dignity at the workplace. A few weeks ago they visited the Occupy Toronto camp in solidarity with the Occupy movement. On November the 19th we will take the Occupy movement to their picket lines in solidarity. Please join us. Feel free to bring treats for the strikers.
